The Hair Doctor is in! And he brought some Cupcakes.
Ok, so when I am at work I usually have my poor hair shoved into a ponytail and under a hat where it gets drenched in sweat, creases, and all sorts of not-cute-hair things. My hair and scalp can only take so much of this torture before it starts getting funky. A little itchy, dandruffy, and when it's really bad my scalp will even start to develop little sensitive spots that just plan hurt. To avoid all this needless pain and agony there is only one call to make. HAIR DOCTOR, CURE ME!
This little black pot is a godsend. It's full of fresh and natural ingredients so this is a product that you will need to keep in the fridge at all times. Hair Doctor cannot be purchased through the website so you'll need to head down to your local LUSH store to grab some. Since it's the middle of a hot and humid summer, I would suggest taking a small, insulated bag with you to keep your purchase in so that it won't melt/spoil on you while you continue shopping or during your car ride home.
This hair treatment has a strong, herbally smell to it but I don't find it to be overwhelming. It's slightly medicial but I think you'd expect that if you're trying to fight off some rude scalp issues.
The first ingredient is water, followed by Irish Moss Powder and Fullers Earth. It's also got some coconut oil and jojoba oil up in thurr! When you open the pot you'll notice the consistency may seem a bit bouncy or congealed. Just take your fingers and whip it around to soften it up for application.
Once you've got that done, just start smashing it into your hair and rubbing it into your scalp! It's not a sexy look, so you're probably best doing this (as well as the face mask) when your sig other or obnoxious little brother is not around.
Fully saturate your head and let it sit in there for about 20 minutes. This makes it a perfect time for a face mask! Enter Cupcake, stage left.
Once again, face masks are full of fresh ingredients and must be refridgerated at all times. All LUSH refrigerated items come with a "Use By" date on the bottom. However, I have found that as long as your fridge is pretty cold the products should keep for much longer than the date at the bottom. Don't toss these just because of the date! Also, LUSH has a great recycle program similar to that of MAC. Bring back 5 black pots of any combination of products and you get a free face mask!
One thing about this mask is that it seriously looks good enough to eat. It even smells chocolatey. Whatever you do, though, don't get too tempted to lick your fingers after application. Trust me when I tell you it's not a good thing. But really, guys, without the pot this looks just like some delicious brownie mix!
Ok, take this nom smelling stuff and start smearing it all over your face. As with any mask be sure to watch getting too close to your eyeballs. It's nice and thick with a smooth consistency for effortless application.
Now leave this guy on for 10 minutes and by the time that ticker is up your hair should be ready as well. Take your rear to the shower and wash the Hair Doctor out with your favorite shampoo and rinse off that mask and you'll be feeling like a million non-itchy bucks! Both of these products get a sweet 10/10 from me.
TIP: If you live in the Twin Cities, MN area... All local LUSH stores get their new mask/hair treatment shipments on Thursdays and they almost always sell out of Hair Doctor by Friday. They will hold one aside for you if you call and give them your name and promise to pick it up.
